Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee will now bring a bill to the floor that would allow limited stem-cell research. This comes a year later after he vowed to make such a move. He said that he waited until now when conditions were right for a vote. A lot of people certainly won't like this move by this conservative, Republican Senator. He has already not been allowed to attend some Christian-related political activities. Myself, I sort of straddle the fence on this issue; I'm not quite sure where I stand. I do know, though, that thousands of embryos are destroyed every year through fertility clinics; there is nothing to prevent that except to ban those type of centers. I think I might like to see research done with these embryos instead of having all of them destroyed; they might save a few lives down the road. (more here)
