Talk about a scary story! Denise Grier is a nurse from Georgia. As she was driving home on March 10, she was pulled over by an officer. She really wasn't sure what was going on since she wasn't breaking any laws. When the officer came up to the side of her vehicle, she was informed that she had a "lewd decal" on the back of her car. What was the "lewd decal"? It was a Bush campaign bumper sticker. She was actually given a ticket by the officer and charged $100. Talk about an injustice! That officer had no right to try and restrict this woman's freedom of speech. She had every right to display a political message on her property. If this had been a woman with a Kerry sticker, I would feel the same way. No government official has the right to tell us what political messages we should display or not display. The ACLU has taken up her case, and this is one of the few cases that I actually support the ACLU. (story here)
