A Bad Move


Dubai has just announced that they will forgo ownership of many US ports and hand them over to an American entity (story here). Throughout this ordeal, I can't help but wonder what in the world Bush was thinking when this deal was being worked out. He knew that Democrats would scream mercy over this deal and go into mid-term elections with something on their shoulder. He also had to know that a majority of the Republicans in Congress would not like this deal either, especially with elections coming up. I don't think this was the greatest move politically for Bush and for Republicans. This has certainly hurt some of his relationships with lawmakers and might create some problems come November (at least for his side). I'm just in disbelief that Bush and his advisers would support such a deal that they would have to know that many would oppose; again, not a good move for them.
