Here is a funny story from the Nashville region. The town of Coopertown has long been known for its infamous traffic regulations; apparently, people get tickets all the time going through the town. I read somewhere (can't remember where) that 30 percent of the town's revenue comes solely from traffic violation fines; quite an amazing number if you ask me. Well, this guy was driving through the town shopping for a new home. He gets stopped for going 50-something in a 35mph zone. He claims that there were no signs to indicate a change in the speed limit. After getting his ticket, he looked heard from media reports about the town's infamous traffic policies. When he sent in the check, he wrote on the subject line, "for speed trap." Well, this made the mayor upset, and he wouldn't accept the check. The TBI was then sent in to investigate whether the mayor committed a criminal act by not accepting the check. Magically, the town suddenly accepted the check and this guy from Nashville didn't have to appear in court. Wow, the magic of investigations! I guess this guy won't be moving there anytime soon.
