Withdraw?

On Sunday, Iraqis will be going to the polls to vote in a democratic society for the first time in almost half a century. Many people are saying that our boys ought to come home once the elections are over. This a rational thought; we have accomplished our goals, but I think the time has not yet come. Regardless of how you feel about the war in the first place, our soldiers need to stay in Iraq for now. Right now, the most advanced army in the world cannot take control of the country. Daily, bombs are exploding, Iraqis are dying, people are being threatened. The United States military has not been able to curb this violence. Our military is one of the best in the world. Do you really think that the Iraqi army and police force will be able to control this? We, as a nation, have an obligation to Iraq. Even if we should be there or not, we started this thing; we need to finish it. Imagine what would happen to the country if our soldiers suddenly withdrew. Chaos would be king. The insurgents would suddenly overwhealm the country. If the current state is being controlled by our military, imagine what the state would be like with the highly untrained Iraqi forces. The enemy would take over! This would be like blowing an investment. Thousands of Americans have died; millions of dollars has been spent. All of that would be in vain if we left now. We need to give the Iraqis more time to develop their country and develop their armed forces. We have to be patient as a country. Many times in history, our country has been extremely impatient in our duties, and evil takes over. We shouldn't let this be the case in Iraq; we need to learn from our mistakes and stay the course. Don't let the lives of our American soldiers go in vain; let their sacrifice be for freedom.
