Nashville Style Democracy

This Sunday, Iraqis are going to the polls for the first time to pick their national leader. Voting in America, however, starts Friday for Iraqi expatriates. Five polling places in America were picked to be national polling places. These sites include: Washington, Chicago, Los Angeles, Detroit, and none other than music city, Nashville, Tennessee. I feel great that our state is taking a major role in the new freedom that the Iraqi people are now experiencing. I was surprised that Nashville was picked as a national voting site, but a little research proved that it isn't that shocking. According to The Tennessean, Nashville is home to the largest popultion of Iraqi Kurds in America. So far, a total of 3,930 people have registered to vote in the state's beautiful capital. I just wish I could be in the city to see this historical event taking place. Congratualtions, people of Iraq! You deserve it! Click here to read the article.
