Poor Dick Cheney

Most people probably hasn't heard about this one, but Vice-President Dick Cheney has been given heat for his choice of attire for the 60th anniversary ceremony of the liberation of Auschwitz in Poland. Everyone, except him, was wearing very drab, gloomy clothing; most men wore formal overcoats and dress shoes. Dick was of course wearing a green parka, hiking boots, and a knit ski cap that read "Staff 2001." One European reporter said that the cap looked like a free gift that one would find in a convention goody bag. Robin Givhan of The Washington Post wrote, "The vice president, however, was dressed in the kind of attire one typically wears to operate a snow blower." This reporter goes on to say that "the vice president looked like an awkward boy amid the well-dressed adults." Poor Dick Cheney! It is kind of funny to see Dick Cheney in this snow blowing outfit among these formal dressed leaders. I can understand that that his attire might have placed wrong symbolism in the minds of the world leaders present, but don't critize him for his fashion sense. This good ole boy just wanted to stay warm!
