Top Photos of 2006: #9

FEBRUARY 25

If you lived, studied, or worked at Carson-Newman, you have more than likely met Sam Lee, the dubbed Mr. Korea at CN. Sam, actually named Seung-Hyeon Lee, came to us from Seoul, South Korea, last year in August. He started out by attending the English Language Institute, and he was partnered up with me to be a "conversation partner." This is a program where international students learning English meet with native speakers on a weekly basis to learn conversational English and to experience the American lifestyle. It is a really good program that helps the students become more familiar with American society and English. Sam and I had a really good time as conversation partners and later as friends. We even had a great trip to Atlanta one weekend over the summer to watch the Braves play baseball; we have lots of great memories from this past year. The picture above is at Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport; he came home with me one weekend to see my stomping grounds. I plan to visit his home in Korea next summer so I really look forward to that. I definitely need someone to help me get around! Unfortunately, circumstances forced Sam to leave Carson-Newman for another university in Virginia. He will certainly be missed by all!
