A Good Sunday for Tennesseans

Dolly Parton was honored last for receiving the nation's highest art award, the Kennedy Center Honors. She joined Smokey Robinson, Steven Spielberg, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Zubin Mehta as this year's honorees. Many joined in honoring the country-music diva. Reese Witherspoon, Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, Kenny Rogers, Alison Krauss, Jessica Simpson, Vince Gill, and many other were on hand to honor Dolly. Reba McEntire described Dolly as being "the diamond in a business filled with rhinestones." (story here)
This story probably upsets quite a few Tennesseans. Yesterday, the Tennessean Titans beat the Indianapolis Colts 20-17 at LP Field in Nashville. With only seconds left on the clock and a tied game, Titans kicker Rob Bironas made a 60-yard field goal attempt and was successful. This kick was only 3 yards short of beating the NFL record. This comes among many recent surprising and "magical" victories for the Titans and continues their longest winning streak since 2003. (story here)
