First Debate

I watched the debate last night between Governor Phil Bredesen and State Senator Jim Bryson, which are both hoping to be in the governor's seat in January. Coming from an undecided voter, I think Bredesen won the debate last night (in my mind at least). He was confident throughout the questioning and usually had a better response than Bryson; he was ready for whatever came his way. Bryson, however, acted extremely nervous during the debate. He would stutter and have a hard time conveying his message. Bryson looked like a nervous higher schooler making his first speech in front of class. He kept attacking the Governor. Although it is nice to know his criticisms of Bredesen, he focused too much on attacking rather than fully presenting his agenda. After watching the debate, I still haven't decided on who I will vote for in the Fall. Bredesen's administration has been full of corruption, and the Governor has had a lack luster response to ethic violations and a variety of other issues. On the other side, I'm not sure if I support everything on Bryson's platform, and I ponder the effectiveness of his governorship. I would certainly like to hear how you all feel! (story here)

There is another debate scheduled this Sunday in Memphis and another on Oct 14 in Nashville that will be televised statewide.
