Poor Joe

Senator Joe Lieberman, 2000 Vice-President nominee, has lost the Democratic primary in Connecticut to newcomer Ned Lamont. Lieberman was seen as the moderate that supported some of President Bush's policies; Lamont's platform, though, was certainly more liberal and more Bush bashing. A new Time article is saying that the GOP is very happy that Lieberman lost the primary and will now run as an independent. For one, he will split up the Democratic vote in the liberal stronghold and make a GOP victory more possible. The Republicans will also discuss this election around the country. They will say this election proves that the Democrats are becoming more liberal and are moving away from mainstream America. I totally agree with that statement. I feel, however, that the Republicans have also moved even farther to the conservative side and have also moved away from mainstream America. That leaves a majority of Americans stuck in the middle; isn't that nice? (story here, Time article here)
