Just finished another one of my goals for the summer; I finally completed the book Life of Pi by Yann Martel. The story is certainly an interesting one. A young, Hindu boy from India becomes interested in Islam and Christianity; he is also the son of a zookeeper. The family has to move to Canada because of political problems. The boat that the family is on sinks, and Pi is stuck on a lifeboat with a 400lb tiger. It is a great story of survival, but the end surprised me a bit. I'm still not sure what to believe. Before I started reading, I assumed this would be an innocent book suitable for children, but I was quite wrong. It was actually quite gruesome. I also just found out after an Internet search that the movie version will be shot this summer and is set to release in 2007; I'm not sure how that will turn out, but I'm open to it. I would certainly recommend this book for your readings...quite thought provoking.
