Amazing Race 9: Who Will it Be?

Amazing Race 9 comes to a conclusion tonight on CBS with a two-hour premiere that starts at 8pm. The final three racers are headed to the Land of the Rising Sun and somewhere cold and snowy. Last week's preview made this finale look like it might be an exciting, intense foot race to the end (but of course it would). I know that I stopped my weekly recaps of episodes, but I have kept true throughout this season even though that stupid family thing left a horribly bad taste left in my mouth, but I won't go there anymore. The teams left in Season 9 are the frat boys Eric & Jeremy, hippies BJ & Tyler, and underdogs Ray & Yolanda.
I will be upfront and say that I would be pleased if anyone won besides the annoying, hormone-driven frat boys; I have wanted them gone since the beginning, but they hang on like a tick and do very well. Their performance in the Race has been great since the start. They have finished first every time except for five episodes. Their performance recently, however, has certainly been lagging from what they are used to; their first place finishes are usually accomplished easily, but they have not been getting that top place and have had to work very hard. Teams that consistently earn that top spot throughout the Race often gets tired and sluggish in the end, and those type of teams seem to lose their dominant position. I hope that we are seeing this with the frat boys.
The hippies BJ & Tyler are certainly an interesting team. I think that they have had the most positive spirit throughout the Race and seem to be constantly happy. They have also been extremely lucky; they have found themselves last at the finish mat twice but both of those times have been predetermined non-elimination legs. It is really amazing that they have been able to come back from those tremendous setbacks; they have had all of their money and possesions taken away, and they have been the only team this season to enjoy the comforts of non-elimination legs. Combined with their great luck and hard work, I think they have a great possibility of being first at the final destination and winning that million dollars. One tremendous advantage they have is this next country that they will be visiting; they have been there once before and know the uncommon language that is spoken there.
Ray & Yolanda have been somewhat hidden from the radar for most of the Race. They stayed in the back of the pack and didn't make any enemies with the other racers. It was around mid-season when they really went into full force and started to become a team to reckon with. They get along well with each other and have a pretty good performance. I could easily see them winning it all. Maybe their underdog status will actually help them; maybe the other two teams will not see them as a threat and will overlook their performance.
Predicting the end of this season is kind of difficult. All of the teams do very well and have a good chance of winning. I think it will come down to which team gets the best flight, the best cabbies, and have the best luck. I will go out on a limb here and say that hippies BJ & Tyler will win.

BJ and Tyler certainly added another layer of entertainment to the season. They simply had fun, first and foremost. I think it's only appropriate that they won the race. Good job guys!
