Double Standards

I'm not sure if our recent nuclear deal with India was the best idea in the world. What right do we have as a nation to say that one nation can use nuclear technology but not another? This deal certainly does not help our PR efforts in the world. We tell Iran and North Korea that they are not to touch any type of nuclear material, but we share the technology with India. What makes us think that India will be a better caretaker of this deadly material? According to the article that I read, the country will not even agree to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Agreement. They are going to allow international inspectors at their civilian plants, but Iran allowed inspectors for a while. We might regret this decision 20 or 25 years down the road when India might become an enemy of the US. We need to be careful which country is given the technology. Iran and North Korea will certainly uses this as a point in their argument against the US; they will point towards India when trying to reconcile their nuclear program. I would have to say that this was a bad move; we don't need to be going throughout the world just handing our nuclear material. Congress still has to approve the deal so it still might not be approved. (story here)
