Richard Venable has just announced that he will not seek re-election as Sullivan County Mayor; he will instead for running for the 1st District Congressional seat that will be vacated by Bill Jenkins after this term. I'm not very familiar with Venable's leadership, but I am interested that a homeboy of mine will be seeking the Republican nomination. (story here, registration required)
