The Transportation Security Administration will start allowing scissors less than 4 inches long and tools less than 7 inches to be taken on board airplanes. Knives, crowbars, drills, hammers and saws will still be prohibited. I don't know about you, but I see this as a step backwards in airline security. I do understand that the TSA wants to speed the screening process and focus more on searching for explosives, but this is not acceptable! Do they not remember that the horrible events of September 11th were caused by simple box cutters? Scissors are about as harmless as box cutters; what would prevent a terrorist from using scissors as a weapon? The TSA should really consider reversing this action. We need to be moving forward with airline security, not backwards! (story here)
