China's Alarming Growth

China's emerging power certainly alarms me and the future of democracy throughout the world. Their economy continues to grow tremendously; China is soon expected to exceed the GDP of Italy, Britain, and France (story here. Considering China's past acts of human rights violations and aggression, news like this should not be taken lightly! The world body needs to control China and the threat that they pose. This is not a democratic society; this country is communism with leaders that are accustom to absolute power. If they continue to grow, this country will be very wealthy with enough money to have the most advanced military in the world. What could we do then? We could fight, but we would be no match to their power. Imagine China's control of the world and its economy. They could do what ever they wanted to whoever they wanted. Our leaders need to reign in their growth before it starts getting dangerous. But I guess money clouds vision and speaks the loudest.

  1. shawn~ a growing economy is not necessarily a bad thing. democracy--true democracy--necessitates a strong, vibrant economy before it can take root. indeed, the usa had its share of rich, land-owning colonial aristocrats that pretty much funded the revolution. poor economies equal bad democracies... just look @ india and most african states that are "democratic." they are more corrupt now than they probably would have been had they remained under authoritarian rule. think about it, bro... the larger the economy, the stronger the people and working-middle-class, the less control the government has over them.

i am a bit concerned about your fears regarding their millitary. armies, war, millitaries are not the greatest defense humanity has access to... lest we forget christ!

  2. Thanks for the comment Adam; you have good ideas about growing economies and democracy. I agree with you totally that a strong economy is needed for a true democratic society to operate. I am hoping that, as the Chinese economy grows, the people will demand more rights and more involvement in government. There have been many reports in the countryside of thousands of Chinese villagers actually protesting government actions. Maybe this is a sign of more things to come! I hope so anyway; China could be a great friend of the world if democratic reform took place.

And thanks for pointing out that Christ is the greatest defense. I failed to mention Him when writing my post.
