White Picket Fence for America

Representative Duncan Hunter, chair of the House Armed Services Committee, is going to start pushing for the construction of a huge, smack-daddy fence along the entire US-Mexican border (2000 miles long to be exact). His reasoning, of course, is to deter illegal immigrants from our neighbors to the south. The cost of the project is currently estimated to cost around 8 billion dollars! Hum, I really wonder if this huge price tag is worth keeping out illegals; I guess some in-depth cost-benefit analysis needs to be done (my business classes kicking in). In this increasing globalized world, are fences across national borders going to become the norm? Israel is constructing that controversial wall along some of their borders. Is this how countries are going to react to keep out the unwanted people? It might be interesting to see how far this project gets off the ground. (story here)
