Is it just me or do you find it funny that the state legislature will "shift focus from ethics" when they go back into session on January 10? (story here) I strongly believe that the focus of work at the capitol should stay on ethics until the issue is resolved. This is the heart of every discussion and every bill that comes to the floor. If us citizens cannot feel confident that our lawmakers are not involved in corruption, how can we trust the legislation that they propose? We need that confidence before we continue with any further business! Bredesen needs to call that "special session" on ethics because we need to have faith in the way that our government works. Every piece of legislation passed from now on needs to have the confidence of the people behind it; we cannot trust legislation that has the possibility of being full of corruption. We need ethics reform now!
