TAR8: Pre-race Team Preview (2)

Here is a look at the other fives families competing on TAR8, which premieres tonight at 9pm!

Weaver Family

This team will certainly be emotionally charged. The family lost the husband and father two years ago in an accident at Daytona International Speedway (side note, Mother Weaver is currently in the midst of a lawsuit against the facility). Each member of the family mentions how hard it has been to recover from his death and are racing in his honor. They are also hoping that this Race will be able to help them overcome the pain of the past two years. This will certainly be a team that the viewers will probably connect to and hope to see succeed (remember, all of this is pure speculation on my part). Aside from their motivation, the team seems to be in good shape; it is mostly comprised of three teenagers and their 46-year-old mom. All three teenagers play in various sports and look ready for the run. This team will certainly have the desire and endurance to go far in the Race.

Linz Family

The Linz family is a close-knit team of three brothers and one sister and are from Ohio. I see this team doing well in the Race. All four of the team members are at a good age (ages 19-24). All of them also appear to be in good physical shape for the Race. If they truly as "close-knit," they will have a true advantage. If a team can agree quickly on decisions and reduce arguments, they can move quickly and effectively. However, I'm worried that as soon as they get out on the course that things might get a little more heated than usual between these siblings. Another great advantage that this team has is their age in comparison to the other teams. Most have older racers and really young racers. This team's average age, however, is 20-something, which I believe will help since they are in the prime of their condition. We will just have to wait and see if they have the brains that is needed in the Race.

Bransen Family

I definitely see some friction from this team! This family is comprised of three sisters and their father. The father seems like he is a pretty smart guy (works as a CFO). He also describes himself as being very analytical. All three girls are recent graduates or is currently enrolled in college. They don't have the disadvantage of having a little one to tag along, but they do have an older dad that is in his late fifties. The girls also admit to being impatient and there is often arguments between them and their father. The youngest one also complains that she feels like her older sisters are always telling her what to do...a pure warning sign of some drama! If they were smart, they would forget the little things and keep their focus on the Race. I think the best racers minimize their arguments, get things done, and talk later. I don't feel that the Bransen's will be doing this, though. One advantage they have is that they are well traveled. Oh yeah, a little side note, all three girls appeared in a shampoo commercial once.

Paolo Family

I see some great humor coming from this bunch! The first thing mentioned in their biography is the constant bickering between the four. The team comprises of 50-something mother and father, a son in college, and a son still in high school. The father is a sanitation worker in NYC and is originally from Italy. This team certainly has a great disadvantage if they take along their habit of arguing. Like I said before, teams need to minimize disagreements as much as possible. Arguments are usually never good on the Race, and this team would be smart to get rid of this characteristic. The youngest son says that he is the sanest one among the four so there is a sign that these are some interesting characters that I look forward to watching tonight. The mother might be a burden to the team. Both of the sons admit that they don't expect her to last long. If your own sons is saying that, then you have a problem. I don't seem them going far.

Godlewski Family

I can’t wait to see this team in action; it certainly should be interesting to see how they operate. When I first saw the family’s picture, I immediately thought of the bowling moms from Season 5. Wouldn’t be so cool if they were similar? This family is composed of four sisters that range in age from 26 to 42. They all live within 30 minutes of each other and often travel together. That is one advantage they have is that they have experience traveling with each other and that they know each other well. The two oldest sisters admit to being very competitive and thrive on challenges so that looks favorable as of right now. I think one thing that we can not count seeing from this family is a huge amount of tension; these moms from Illinois just look too lovable (but I could be wrong)!

IT ALL STARTS TONIGHT

AT 9PM ON CBS!
