Countdown to TAR8 Begins

As you can see on the sidebar, the countdown to Amazing Race 8 has begun! As most of you know, this will be the "family edition" of the race. In a way I look forward to how the race will operate with so many people (40 total), but I am also scared that this will be a watered down Race that will disappoint. Here are some of my concerns:
1. The Race will be much shorter this time around. Originally, this was just rumor that has spread among the Race community, but it finally has been confirmed. It is official that the course will only be 30,000 miles (half of the normal mileage).
2. Families will only be racing around in America and maybe some of Central America. If this is true, I will find that aspect truly disappointing. This is a race around the "world" not this side of the earth. CBS did say that the family edition "spent significantly more time" in American locations, including more family-oriented sites.
3. Mass confusion! I got confused at times while teams only composed of two racers. This time around there will be four racers per team with a total of ten teams. Imagine the chaos at the start line (which will be in New York under the Brooklyn Bridge and maybe end at Niagara Falls)!
4. I'm afraid that the many kids and teenagers will add lots of cheesiness to the show. Let's hope it's not too stupid.
Casting director Lynne Spillman was originally worried about the new format considering that the show has only recently become somewhat of a hit. After all is said and done, she has came out of the shoot saying that it turned out much better than she thought it would. She promised that there will be lots of drama and some detours came out to be more frustrating than ever before. Maybe it will be great; I'm sure the producers of the Race have many action-packed moments in store for us. Also, Season 1 DVD comes out the same day that the show premiers.
