During Carson-Newman's annual Fall Break (this year October 13 & 14), many students and faculty will be doing something entirely different this year. Campus Ministries has responded to the crisis in the gulf area and have put together a hurricane relief team to go to the area during Fall Break and help with whatever is needed. The team will be cleaning up and trying to help the victims of this terrible disaster. I will be going on this trip to help in any way that I can. We do, however, need your help! Over 100 people will be a part of this team, and the expenses need to be covered. Each student going has been asked to give $5; the cost, though, will actually be around $75 to $100 per person. Although donations are coming in from the campus, surrounding churches, and friends of the college, we still need help funding this relief trip. We could also use bottled water, personal hygiene items, and much more to give to the victims. Also, churches that would like to get involved could send members to go with us, donate a van & driver (maybe even the gas), or give money to fund this missions endeavor. If you would like to help out or need more information, you can contact the Director of Campus Ministries, Jim Wilson, at 865-471-3536. Don't forget that we could also use your prayers!
