Goodbye, Sandra...Hello, War

It's official now, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor of the Supreme Court delivered a letter to the White House today announcing her intent on resigning from the bench and secluding into retirement. That means more heated action from Congress on judicial nominees. Maybe Frist will be able to push the red button this time for his "nuclear option." Hopefully not, but Congress will certainly be a bitter place once Bush announces his replacement. This also means that Bush might have two justices to replace; many believe that Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist will also retire very soon. Hey, maybe Sandra will get a half off deal at the Supreme Court Retirement Home for bringing a friend. CNN is saying that one candidate that Bush is considering is Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, which would be a major mistake since it was a bitter battle just to approve him as Attorney General little along a life term at the Supreme Court. Things certainly should get interesting.
