The Shocker!

The nailbiting can now end. I am finally explaining the shocking experience that I described in an earlier post. I see that one person couldn't wait to hear the news (by the way, thank you for the comment, I love comments!). On Friday, I had the responsibility to drive my roommate and my friend, Brittany, to the airport in Knoxville so they could catch the plane home for fall break. Brittany and I had a class at 1:00, and their flight was at 4:05. We were a little nervous about going to class and still getting to the airport in time. We decided to park outside the building that we had class in and have the bags already in the car. Both Brian (another Brian that wanted to come and check out the airport) and my roommate could meet outside on the street as soon as our class was over. I picked up Brittany from her dorm, and she showed me a place that I could park on the street. I decided to park a little bit on the sidewalk because I saw that if I didn't cars would have to go into the other lane to pass me. We go to class, and we get both Brian and Brwyan after it was over. I get into the car, and I am ready to go. Then I notice a green slip in my windshield. I thought, "huh, oh odd." Well, I get it, and it is a notice for an appearance in court. Yes, you read that right; I am going to court! What for? Parking on the sidewalk. No, not murder, not theft, not even for speeding. It for parking on the sidewalk because of my courtesy to other drivers. Did you even know that it was illegal to park on a sidewalk? I sure didn't. I am going to use that argument in my defense, too. I am first going to go to the police and explain that I had no idea about this law. Hopefully, they will have pity on me and drop the citation. If not, I would highly consider going to court possibily to have my name cleared by a merciful judge. Lord, help me! I was just thinking of others. Well, that's it. That's the shocker. Can you believe that I could possibily be going to court?! That's the best time we can make of our court system in Jefferson City: people parking on the sidewalk. That's the troublemaker I have become in college. Soon, they be people in a federal prison for jaywalking.
