Top Photos of 2006: #4

FEBRUARY 8

August of 2006 marked my journey to apartment life and a closer step to independence. After two years, Carson-Newman finally deemed myself and my roommates worthy to move out of the dorms and into the campus apartments. At first, we weren't even going to apply for the App Commons, and I don't even remember what gave us an inkling of a desire to apply. We were acutally quite hesitate to move to the other side of the campus and out of Alumni, which had been our home for two years. Myself, I was a little worried about losing the "dorm atmosphere" and being so far away from everything (the science building is like a 10 minute walk). Mr. Brian and I were the first to move into the apartments; CN decided to let last year's summer school students to live in LeConte. I knew right then that we made a great choice. It certainly feels much more homey living here. We have a kitchen, individual rooms, a living room, and even two bathrooms; we certainly enjoy much more privacy and still have a communal environment. It was nice living in Alumni for those two years. The time came for change, though, and I don't really have a desire to go back. The above first is the welcoming of our first door-bell visitor to the apartment. We decided that it was hard to hear people knocking on the door, especially when in the back rooms. We then headed to Wal-Mart and bought a wireless door bell for cheap. It happens to be that Preston was our first visitor to use the door bell, and we had to use the opportunity for a photo.

  1. We were the ones who encouraged you all to apply because we were! Aren't you glad we did?! We need to hang out very soon! Three weeks is a long time! BTW, since when are you in the science building for anything?

  2. I guess you all did help out with the process. I did walk to the science building from the apartments every day during summer school. Those were horrible walks! :o)
