Bryson Visits CN

Jim Bryson, Republican candidate for governor, visited the Carson-Newman campus yesterday for a little meet-and-greet with students and locals. I was a tad embarrassed by the low turnout to the meeting, but what else can you expect from Jefferson City? It was cool, though, to see his "BIG" bus rolling down the streets of CN. I can honestly say that I am a hung voter; I don't really know who I will be voting for. I'm stuck between Bredesen and Bryson. Bredesen has really ticked me off in the past. He exerted no leadership in the scandals that rocked Nashville (probably because most of them involved lawmakers in his own party or officials in his administration). We need a governor who will have a strong hand against ethical violations, and Bredesen has definitely demonstrated in the past that he doesn't instead to use any type of strong reaction. It was also wrong for him to kick people off of TennCare with little warning; many people that needed this coverage was kicked off with little means to cover their tremendous health care costs. Bryson, on the other hand, doesn't seem to energize the public with his run for office; that makes me question his leadership ability in the top seat. His educational proposals, however, sound quite enticing and much better than his opponent's own ideas. I'm still on the fence, and I have no idea who I will vote for. Hopefully, I will come with someone soon!
