In the News

Thailand has been overtaken by a military coup. The takeover was done peacefully and no one was hurt. I'm certainly not familiar with the Thai government, and I have no idea if this coup was a good or bad. I do know that it sounds like a lot of people did not like the former democratically-elected ruler; there has been talk of restoring power to the people. Who knows if that will happen. (story here)

I didn't know it, but U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan will be ending his term soon and will leave the world body. In his Tuesday farewell speech, he basically said nothing has improved. Maybe with a new UN leader something can actually get done. (story here)

GM almost has a hydrogen-fueled car ready for mass production. The struggling automaker is so excited about this project they have spent 1 billion dollars and are ready to spend another billion before production. Yay for a oil-free future! (story here)
