The Democratic nominee to replace retiring Bill Jenkins' 1st District seat in the US House is clearly apparent. Rick Trent has won that election with 6,967 votes or 40% of the Democrats.
The Republican side is a little up in the air. It appears that David Davis has won the nomination with 16,570 votes or 22%. Richard Venable, though, is not very far behind with 16,049 votes, a difference of only 521 votes. It is possible that Venable will ask for a recount with such a slim margin; we will just have to wait and see.
If David Davis does win the Republican nomination, I expect him to have an easy victory in November since Rick Trent's beliefs don't really align with those of most residents in the 1st District.
