I went and saw the Internet-hyped Snakes On a Plane last night, and I must say it was amazing. Although the movie is a somewhat horror/action flick, I was laughing my head off throughout the film. It had great audience interaction; everyone was laughing, clapping, yelling back, and gasping in fear. I must say the studio of this film were marketing geniuses. I don't know if it was intentional or not but this film was probably the most Internet-hyped movie of all time. People couldn't wait to see the movie months before the release. The Internet is full of jokes, videos, parodies, and even quotes people want Samuel L. Jackson to say. The studio even ordered 5 more scenes to be shot right before release so that the movie would be bumped up to R status (as requested by fans) and would include quotes people said they wanted to hear (including Jackson's famous MF quote). Not only did did people go to see it, but huge crowds showed up at theaters across the nation. The movie did so well that it bumped Will Ferrell's Talladega Nights down to number two and took over the top spot. Quite surprising for this new cult classic. This could potentially change the type of movies made and how they are marketed. Who would have thought that a movie that knows it is bad and makes fun of itself would be so successful? If you are looking for a good laugh at the box office, though, don't go no further than Snakes On a Plane. I had such a wonderful time watching the film! Be warned, though, it has many disgusting scenes and very vulgar language. Here are some quotes from the movie:
"Everybody listen! We have to build a barrier between us and the snakes! Grab everything from the overheads, under the seats, and let's build a wall. Let's go!" -Neville Flynn (Samuel L. Jackson)
"Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherf******* snakes on this motherf******* plane! Everyone strap in! I'm going to open some f*****' windows!" -Neville Flynn
Stewardess: "The AC has gone out. The passengers are hot."
Neville Flynn: "I didn't notice; I'm from Tennessee." (followed by much applause)
"Well that's good news: Snakes on crack." -Neville Flynn
"Time is tissue." -Steven Price
