I Voted Early!

Since I will be out of town next Thursday, I decided that I better go ahead and vote before the end of early voting. I think every informed citizen has the responsibility to vote. Notice I included the adjective "informed." Every voter needs to be informed on their decision before pushing the "confirm" button. We don't need people in office just because they have the best commercials or the best roadside signs. I was a tad surprised by the amount of people voting today. I guess this whole voting early thing is catching on. There was quite a line behind me waiting to vote. That could also be caused by the large number of questions we had to answer, most of the questions regarding judges that I had never heard of; there were 11 pages of questions on candidates. I was a little disappointed in myself for not knowing about the judges; I wish I had known about them. I was also surprised by the touch screens. I knew that Knox and Davidson counties were getting these new machines, but I had no idea that Hawkins County was also getting them. I thought the old, electronic machines we had worked fine, but I guess others didn't think so. The only thing that bothers me about these machines is a lack of paper trail. I think we need a paper trail of votes to ensure that these votes are not easily tampered with in the future. I meant to ask the poll workers if these votes were also printed, but I kind of forgot. I could contact my the Hawkins Co. Election Commission, but my last email to them never got an answer. Be sure to go out and vote!
