CN News is reporting that 300 new students attended orientation last week. Working the desk, I realized there were quite a few students, but I didn't realize that this many were on their way to Mossy Creek. Two more sessions are scheduled in July and August for a new group of students; at least that amount is also expected to attend those meetings. This could certainly be good news for Carson-Newman. The college has been struggling in the last few years with declining enrollment numbers; the administration went into action and initiated a new campaign to attract students. Is it working? Only time will tell. I don't think CN's big problems are attracting students; we have a bigger problem of retaining students. A lot of people transfer before the end of their Freshman and Sophomore years (I don't have the numbers to back me up, but I just know a lot of people that do). These big numbers for incoming Freshman, however, are certainly encouraging. Jimmy (aka President Netherton), though, better hope that they stick around for the next four years. (press release here)

Korea - Land of the Morning Calm. That is where I am currently living as an "Englishee teacher." As I go about my life, I'm sure that I will encounter a few interesting things, and I might try to be a little adventurous. Stop by often for some non-stop Korean taekwondo-style action. Whatever you do, please don't have the fan running while reading this -
