American Idol 5 Finale

It all comes down to this. After weeks and weeks of auditions and wannabes and shockers, American Idol 5 is finally coming to a close. The big question is: who will be the next American Idol? Yes, it will be MANDISA!! Well in my dreams she is the winner. Of course, this season's winner will either be the drunken-uncle-karaoke-singer Taylor Hicks or wardrobe-malfunction, pregnant-by-Kevin-Covais Katharine McPhee. I really don't know how this one is going to end. Simon did predict on Jay Leno that Taylor would win it all, but I think it could go either way. We saw last week on the Wednesday results show that the vote was fractionally close; I could be mistaken but I think the difference between the one receiving the most and second most votes (names where not given for those positions) was like 0.3%. I wonder where those Elliot votes will be going. I have a feeling that it will be equally close this week. One interesting note is that Taylor has never been in the bottom 2 or 3 while Katharine has been in that position twice; one of those close calls was the controversial elimination of Chris (I would have swore he would have been sharing the stage with Kat in the finale). Personally, I will probably be voting for Katharine tonight; I have been rooting for her since the beginning. After her audition, I had found the love of my life! Two performances of hers that strike out to me is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree;" just purely amazing. Taylor is pretty cool, but he goes a bit overboard with his performances. I sometimes wonder if Idol producers slip crack in his food. The first song tonight will be an encore performance, the second a free choice, and the third will be a song written just for American Idol; Daniel Powter will also be performing "Bad Day" (imagine that). I am happy to report that the results show will only be two hours instead of last year's drawn-out, three-hour finale; hopefully, they will bring back Mandisa sometime during those two hours. Carrie will of course perform tomorrow night. Who are you rooting for tonight? (overview of Kat & Taylor here)
