Did I ever tell you how much that I hate oil and the gas companies? The Lundberg Survey is now saying what we all have noticed in the past couple of weeks: gas prices are going up once again. The ironic part of this is that the price of crude oil is going down while gas prices are rising. What does the Lundberg say are the reasons for this twist? "An expected increased demand for gasoline in the spring and new government gasoline formulation requirements conspired to drive up prices at the pump." A few things I found interesting from that statement. This is an "expected" raise in demand, not an actual increase; this is just "expected." My question: why not wait to make sure that demand does rise? Just because it rose last year doesn't mean it will again. We do need to consider that gas prices are 30-some cents higher from last year; I'm certainly not making random 50-miles trips. Another funny thing: the article decided to use the word "conspired." These two factors came together and "conspired" to raise gas prices; if the blood-thirsty gas companies had anything to do with it, I wouldn't doubt any conspiracy theories. (story
