Clearing Protesters

Troubling legislation is racing its way through the state capitol. The proposed law would give the House speaker and lieutenant governor to jointly order state troopers to clear protesters from the streets surrounding the capitol building. This comes soon after a large group of disabled protesters blocked all entry and exit points around the building. Nashville Metro police were slow to respond, and workers were held up inside. I understand that protests must be done in an orderly fashion (unlike this last one), but I'm afraid that these leaders will take their powers too far. I have the feeling that they might use this to clear any protest that takes place around the capitol. The might start allow the protests that support their cause and clear the ones of the opposition; Wilder and Naifeh certainly are not known for their moral judgement. This bill goes too far in restricting protests and severely dampers our rights as citizens. Bob Krumm has more here. (story here)
