The Governor actually does something right and returns over $20 thousand dollars worth of contributions from individuals now in the middle of a public corruption investigation in Cocke County. Maybe he realizes that an election is coming up, and he needs the best image possible...that is being over a state found to be full of corruption. (story here)Sullivan County Mayor Richard Venable said last night that he will not run for both county mayor and for Congress (1st district seat that will be emptied by Jenkins) at the same time. An 18-year-old from Maryville is in the running for a seat at the Blount County Commission. Ted Boyatt is running against long-time chairman of the Commission so this will certainly be an uphill battle for him. Hey, it might look good on his resume, though!
