Crazy Dancing Italians

Some of my friends and I got together last night to watch the Olympic Opening Ceremony on NBC. We ate some great chocolate fondue in the process! I must comment that the Italians go a bit crazy when they have their ceremonies.

There was a "beating heart," a man that slammed some steel to make the stadium catch on fire, and "passion people" that skated around the stadium with fire coming out of their heads. Sort of reminded me of the sci-fi movie Logan's Run.

There were also "tree people" and cows that danced around the stadium to the sounds of the long Alp trumpet. I couldn't find pictures of these. The nations then paraded in.

There was then a many with spiked hair that had his heart on the outside of his body and danced around the stage, there was then people with dresses that other people lived in, and "spider people" danced on a huge fence and eventually formed the shape of a dove.

The night concluded with a dramatic lighting of the Olympic flame, of course some Italian opera, and fireworks.
