Carson-Newman's annual freshman variety show, Howdy Hoot, took place last night. Every year, the freshmen of each dorm on campus get together and plan a skit-type show based around some sort of theme; it gives the new students an opportunity to introduce themselves to the campus and allows the other students to have a few laughs. My dorm, Alumni, has a long tradition of winning top placing in the show. For years, the boys of Alumni could always look forward to achieving top placing, but there has been a change in nature for some reason. Last year, Alumni lost for the first time in many years. We thought, "this is going to be our year once again; we are going to win." We had a sort of Wizard of Oz/Reading Rainbow theme starring Pippy Longstockings and Pikachu; it was a great show. I thought that we had a good chance of winning this thing, but then came the girls of Burnett. Sadly, the girls of Burnett defeated us last night, and the boys of Alumni once again walked away with disappointment. This was suppose to be the year of the revenge of the SPIT (our rallying call), but it was not meant to be. Maybe next year; I have confidence we can win once again! The girls left us a little gift last night (a prop from their skit...Mini Me):

As an alum of both C-N and Alumni dorm, I am sorry about your loss -- however, I think you may want to consider women are usually smarter than men. A hanging Mini-Me is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteAnd really, dude, Pikachu is old news. What were you thinking?
It was a good effort, though! :o)
