I just got back from the gas station and just paid $37.50 for 12.5 gallons! I saw this article on CNN and headed straight for the gas station; my plan is to fill up now and use my car only during must-have-to-drive situations. I believe that my labor day weekend trip back home has been cancelled. It's kind of scary; what is going to happen to our nation? There is already around 25 billion dollars worth of damage in the Gulf with the numbers rising, and people will be burdened with soaring prices (experts say that prices might even reach $4/gallon). People in the article went on to say that our economic growth might reduce down to zero in the coming months. I know for sure that I will only be going to near-by places that are accessible by foot and bicycle. The gas station that I went to (pictured in the post below) usually has no wait at all; tonight there were 10-15 cars waiting in line. We should have prevented this in the first place; we should have not let our economy go into a state in which it relies on the price on gasoline. Really scary stuff! For some good news, I will probably get in shape with all the walking and bike riding I will be doing! For continuing coverage of post-Katrina, Yahoo and Google have plenty of updates and info. The mayor of New Orleans is saying that possibly thousands are dead; lets pray that losses will be minimum and that the disaster area will be able to recover quickly.
