Time Moves On

Congress agreed in their new energy bill to extend daylight savings time three weeks early and one week late. As you might remember talking about this before, the original plan would have made Daylight Savings Time be extended by two months. Farms complained, though, that the time change could do harm to their livestock (Betsy the Cow wouldn't get up in time to get milked). The airlines also complained that it would be hard to schedule international flights due to a difference in US and international times. So our hard-working lawmakers (that set their own salaries) went back to the drawing board and gave us something else to waste money on. Now, daylight savings will start on the second Sunday in March and will end the first Sunday in November. One sad note, no more dark Halloweens. One lawmaker praised the safety of this bill since kids can trick-or-treat in the daylight. I don't know about you, but I thought the darkness made it more fun when I was a kid. Oh well.
