Take Me Out to the...Olympics

Expect no more baseball or softball at the Olympics come the 2012 games. The IOC decided at their summit in Singapore that the two sports are no longer worthy of their title of "Olympic sports." The excuse that the IOC gives is that the venues are expensive and are usually unusable after the Games; also, they say that the sports are unpopular. My question is: since when has the sport of handball be popular? And I'm sure that the venues for that hot sport are cheap too (sarcasm intended; no offense to handball fans). Some also point to recent discoveries of use of condition-enhancing drugs being used in the American big leagues. Others say the true reasons are that the IOC, especially the president Jacques Rogge, do not like America and want to prevent the US from gaining medals at the Games. American softball players have won gold medals in the sport every year that they have been played at the Olympics. Baseball and softball do still have a chance, though. They can still apply to be chosen as an official Olympic sport for the 2016 games (maybe in New York?).
