State of the Union

Bush gave a wonderful speech last night in the 2005 State of the Union address. The entire speech was dominated with talk of the continuing war on terrorism and social security reform. The Democrats were a little rude when they started booing when the President started to discuss his vision for a new social security; I was certainly surprised to hear that! I've never heard people boo at the President before, which caught me off guard. One thing that I took away from Tuesday night's speech is the embrace given between Laura's visitors. Bush introduced the mother and father of a soldier that had recently died in Iraq. When they stood up during their applause, the mother gave a warm embrace to the Iraqi woman in front of her that had recently defied terrorists and voted in Baghdad. Such a great, heart felt moment!
