It's now a done deal. Bush has been re-elected the President of our great country. It is now time for him to show himself to all Americans what he can do. Bush has so many possibilities to become considered one of the "great" Presidents. A survey by USA Today shows that 58% of Americans are optimistic about the results of this election (more than Bush's winning of 51% of the vote) and only 38% are discouraged. Americans are ready to see what Bush can do, and he should see the endless possibilites. He does not need to come into office with pride. He needs to be humble during his second administration if he wants Americans to approve of his job performance. He needs to realize that this country is still split even though he won the election. The vote came down to 51%-48% in Bush's favor. I don't know about you, but I would say that the country is not in one accord. Bush needs to work across party lines. He needs to do this despite the fact that Republicans still control both the House and Senate. He needs to give those 48% of Americans something to feel good about. He needs to bring this country together. Give both sides something. Bush shouldn't think that just because he won the election that it gives him the right to ignore the other half of the country. They don't have to be given everything on a silver platter, but at least compromise a little. A great leader should be able to identify the differences among a group and be able to work out a solution that at least both sides get a little something. This is what Bush needs to do, and I have the confidence that he can do it.
